Insomnia Tips That Work
I have wanted to write about this for years, but only when I had answers. I hate reading crappy articles that repeat useless dribble that leaves hardcore sufferers in the dark.
I've had Chronic Insomnia for years. I can't get to sleep without a pill. A few weeks ago, I started taking Magnesium an hour before bed. Within half the time, I felt tired. Going to sleep on it worked about 70% of the time. You wake up later though sometimes, and I would grab a bit more and sure enough it would work.
I also was given by a doctor Amitriptalyn which is crap in some ways. The less you take the better, and mostly I have to take Benadryl an hour later, and combine it. That has worked.
For those suffering with insomnia, I can tell you...
Try Magnesium- It helps you to unwind, helps your muscles relax, decreases the stress hormone cortisol. It regulates neurotransmitters, quiets the nervous system. I can't swallow so I chew half a 400 mg pill, then take more later. Its a laxative sometimes so be careful.
Let your mind wander into fantasy mode. Don't think excitable things, but comforting things. Experts say fantasizing is great for falling asleep.
Don't think about sleep, anything but that!
Try the if-I-need-it technique. Have pills nearby, and try sleeping without it. Just knowing they are there, helps.
Try very hard to avoid caffeine in pills and food after dinner. Leave a six to seven hour period before going to bed.
Change your location. Sleep in a new place that comforts you, even if its a couch, a chair, the floor, wherever. There's less pressure to go to sleep, and that's the trick I've discovered.
I sleep on a sofa every night.
Those are the best, iron clad tips for now.
