Natural Remedies For Migraines-Do They Work?
Do natural remedies work for migraines? I explore that right now...
Vitamin B2-
Well, I have to say no. I have took it for two months, and I can say it does help with regular headaches! You will have less of them, and they will not be as bad. You might notice a slightly less pain difference in Migraines, as far as severity at first, but so far I have not seen this working. It can take up to four months though but after reading up on this, some people say that it only cuts one or two of their migraines and that is about it, but if you have headaches every day, I highly recommend it.
Feverfew-
I took this for a few months a couple of years ago, and it did not help at all, so this is a thumbs down for me.
Co-Enzyme Q-10-
...Yes! It does help actually cut back on them to some extent. It is expensive though at 30 dollars a bottle, so I only worked through one, and had to stop but during that time, it worked well. The reason? It oxygenates the blood, and some believe that migraines are caused by a lack of oxygen, that is why severe migraine sufferers even have oxygen tanks in their homes, I have an Aunt who did that.
In 2004, I took Q-10 for two years back when I could afford it, and did not suffer very many migraines except hormonal, so I say this is a good ones to try.
Braggs Raw Vinegar-
I never thought I would give a mixed review on my very favorite product but as far as migraines go, It does not really help. It is in the running though because several testimonies have came up from users who had a migraine, and took two tablespoons of it, and said within ten minutes, the aura was gone, within twenty, the migraine was gone. Raw vinegar has magnesium and potassium and can sweep toxins out of the body. Migraines are also caused by toxins in some cases, so that is why this works sometimes. I tried it about a dozen times, and what I did notice was that it will delay a migraine a few hours and help it a little bit, but for my hormonal ones, it came back full blown.
Magnesium-
Okay, this one is an excellent preventer. I have almost emptied my bottle of it, but it is a hit or a miss. Sometimes it will prevent both headaches and migraines if you take as much as 400 mg a day. But if your heavily prone to them, it can stop it some, and smooth out the rough edges, but it really depends on the type of migraine. Its great to nibble on and keep around because it does calm things in the head area to some extent.
B-Complex-
This is a preventer. I read where a woman said that she took B Complex and it eliminated her migraines entirely after a short time. Last year I took a B-Complex every day for about three months, and did have less migraines during that time than when I didn't! So, I think there is truth in that. The days I took some organic B vitamins, was days I did not have any migraines at all, but more experimentation is needed.
Coconut Oil-
This is actually good for hormonal migraines, in preventing them. I have used it before for months but because I have gut problems, it causes yeast die-off, which in turn can cause side effects, so I am afraid of the stuff for the most part. I took up to a teaspoon a day and had less migraines as far as hormonal went than when I did not. Normal, healthy people with good guts can take up to several tablespoons a day for optimal health and I am pretty sure you can have less migraines around menustration.
Maca Maca-
I mentioned this is another post, but Maca is excellent for preventing hormonal migraines if you take up to three or four capsules a day. It is a deep stimulant though, so you cant take it after 2 pm. The Maca Team, which I am affiliated with, sells organic red maca, and that is chock full of nutrients.
Certified Organic, GMO-Free, Fair Trade Maca of All Varieties
Speaking of vitamins, I can suggest that you stay seriously committed to a good multivitamin, because it can help balance your body, and smooth things out.
So the bottom line is, some stuff works, some does not, each person will have their own experiences, but its good to take note of these things.
